100000 Chicken Layer House Design

- Project: 100,000 chicken layer house
- The number of house: 1
- Layer house size: L × W × H = 100 m × 16 m × 7.5 m (approximately 17222.26 sq ft)
- Chicken cage type: H type, 8-tier layer cage (144 birds/set)
- Total cage sets: 695 sets
- Total capacity of layers: 695×144= 100,880 birds
- Chicken cage size: 2.15 m 2.3 m × 1.5 m (L × W × H)
- Chicken house layout: 144 chickens/set, 139 sets/row, 5 rows/house
100,000 layer poultry farm layout
This layer house accommodates about 100,000 layers, which is a large scale of breeding. To make full use of the land area, the 100, 000 layers are put in one chicken house, taking about 17,222 sq ft. An 8-tier H type layer cage holds 144 birds, takes only about 8.75 sq ft, and is suitable for this project. The layer cage system has a 4+4 form, and workers can stand on the supporting layer between tier 4 and tier 5.

100000 layer farm size caculation
Length of 100,000 layer farm: 100 m. The length of a standard poultry house is suggested not to be too long, e.g., over 120 meters. In this case, the layer house is designed as 100 meters long, a maximum length in accordance with the automatic feeding system. The distance consists of layer chicken cages and other equipment, including an egg collection system and a manure removal system.
Width of 100,000 layer farm: 16m. The width of a layer house takes into account chicken cages, feeding equipment, central walkways, and side ways. 1250 mm × 5 + 1600 mm × 4 + 1675 mm × 2 = 16000 mm = 16 m
Height of 100,000 layer farm: 4m. The height of the chicken house must exceed all the equipment in the vertical direction. In this layer house, the equipment is 6550 mm high. So, the height of the building is set to 7.5m, which does not disregard the ventilation of the chicken farm.
8-tier Layer chicken cage dimension
| Type | Capacity/set | Cage size (mm) | Cell size (mm) | Cell capacity | Door | Area/bird (cm2) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| H type 8 tiers | 144 birds/set | 650*1250*6200 | 650*6250*500 | 9 birds/cell | 1 door/side | 451.38 |
Key equipment for 100000-layer farming
To make this 100,000 layer poultry house project function efficiently, a series of auxiliary equipment is needed. Essential equipment includes an automatic feeding system, an automatic drinking system, a feeding pipe and silos, an automatic manure removal system, a semi-automatic or fully automatic egg-collecting system, and an automatic climate control system.
Automatic feeding equipment
Feed is fed to the hopper by a feeder installed at one end of the house. The hopper moves automatically and uniformly spreads feed to the feeding trough from the top to the bottom layer.
Automatic drinking equipment
Uninterrupted 360 degrees of watering supply is guaranteed. The nipple drinkers adopt fine materials; the pressure regulator, water filter, and medicator chosen in the system are durable.
Automatic manure removal equipment
The automatic manure removal system is critical for keeping the air quality in the chicken house and providing chickens and employees with a hygienic and healthy environment.
Automatic climate control equipment
For a large-scale project, when the chicken house is a closed-type or semi-open-type, a climate control system is necessary. In this case, a vertical negative pressure ventilation system, cooling pads, and exhaust fans are adopted.
Semi-automatic or fully automatic egg collection
An egg-collecting machine is necessary for a large-scale laying hen farm. Both semi-automatic and fully automatic egg collection machines are available. They reduce labor and save time and costs for the whole project

FAQ
How much land is required for 100,000 layers?
It’s not scientific to give a fixed number since the land area for a 100,000-layer farm depends on several factors, such as the chicken cage type, the automation degree, the number of houses, whether or not there is planning on expansion, or special function zones. You can take the layout listed above as a reference, since it has an extremely compact structure.
How many workers are needed?
About 6-10 workers are needed for statistics supervision, disease control, feeding management, equipment operation, simple maintenance, egg packing, cleaning, etc.
Can the design be customized?
Yes. FAMtech provides tailor-made solutions to meet the various demands of customers.
What climate is suitable?
The moderate temperature for laying hens is 18°C to 24°C. So the ideal applicable places include temperate plateau regions, subtropical temperate regions, and partial coastal temperate regions. Hot areas, such as some countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, can also use this system with the auxiliary climate control system. Cold areas such as Eastern Europe, North Asia, and high-latitude areas are covered by taking necessary insulation measures.
However, the chicken cage system is not advised to be used in extreme hot weather where there is also a shortage of stable electricity, or in areas severely affected by sandstorms, or in areas with high humidity and a poor power supply.
How long is the installation time? 30–60 days, depending on the complexity of the structure and the ground base condition, proficiency of workers, etc., factors. Please note that this estimated time also takes into consideration the adjustment time.
